What is architecture?— The Island. From Within.
1st edition — April 5-11, 2027
Download Press Kit (PDF)What is Open House Ibiza?
Open House Ibiza is a free architecture festival. Over one weekend, buildings usually closed to the public open their doors: 30 buildings, 5 municipalities.
This is the festival's first edition, born from a single question: what is architecture? We inhabit it every day — at home, at work, on the street — yet rarely look at it.
It isn't answered with a lecture. It's answered by opening doors.

- Talks and symposiums — Architecture conversations with professionals and experts.
- Guided routes — Tours across the island led by the festival's volunteers.
- Screenings — Documentary pieces on the island's built heritage.
- Closing gathering — A public close bringing together the organisation, volunteers and community.
Three eras, one question
Heritage
The vernacular farmhouse solved climate, water and life with local resources before anyone else. Preserving it isn't nostalgia: it's keeping the manual.
Modernity
Sert, Broner and GATEPAC didn't come to teach: they found here the built proof of their own thesis. The European avant-garde recognised that architecture emerges from necessity.
Present
Public housing, public facilities and heritage reuse now answer the most urgent version of the question: who can live on the island, and how. Opening it to public debate is the reason for this festival.
